WordPress Sociable plug-in updated
It’s a fairly minor update, but I thought it was worth mentioning. Joost de Valk’s Sociable plug-in has been updated with a few new features. It includes a few new sites, namely Meneame and BarraPunto and then a few others. It also adds an “e-mail” link that you can put in the mix.
I’m a bit disappointed with the e-mail button. I had hoped it would take the user to a page with a form, but it just launches a “mailto:” link instead. Joost is also the author of the excellent “Enhanced WP-ContactForm“, so maybe we’ll see that feature in a future version of Sociable. However, I really can’t complain, because this is a superb plug-in that has already helped drive extra traffic to some of my blogs.

What do you want the button to do?

I think it would be better if it opened a form similar to the WP-ContactForm, as mailto: doesn’t usually work for people that use web-based mail (Yahoo, Gmail, Hotmail, etc).
I know that Gmail does some things to help with that, but most of the time people are out of luck.
Again, as I said in the post, I think it’s a GREAT plug-in and I’m very appreciative of the work you’ve put into it.

Hmm, let me think about that one

Fair enough. I’m sure there are some downsides to it as well (more spam issues, maybe?) and it’s really not a big deal — the other services are what make the plug-in so great.
Still, I thought I’d offer the suggestion. Thanks again!
